Product Description
DAY 1:
Theory lesson (1 hour):
- safety in kitesurfing
- wind conditions, meteorology
- kitesurfing gear (kite, board, harness)
The 1st hour is spent doing theory, learning about winds, equipment and setting up the gear. You will learn to rig a kite and how the kite bar works and all the safety involved in choosing the right area. We also chat about tides, beaches, weather and the gear that you will need to get if you want to become independent.
Beach lesson (3 hours):
- setting up the trainer kite
- basic kite flying technique
- advanced kite flying technique
- safe launching and landing
After the 1st hour we have a little break before every student gets a kite and starts learning to fly. In the beginning its just about keeping it simple and learning to fly figures of 8, left and right, you will learn to fly just on the right and then just on the left, with one hand. Afterwards you then learn to land and launch the kite from the beach. All the time the instructor is keeping a close eye on you as the group sizes are not more than 4 student (mostly 2 students) per instructor. This beach flying process lasts 3 hours until everyone feels confident with the kite control.
Self improvement (3 hours):
3 hours self improvement is a special free service that no other school can offer. After your regular beach lesson you can either stay on the beach more time and practice by yourself or come the next day in the morning (10.00-13.00 only) and practice before your boat session. By practicing more time on the beach you can significantly improve your kite flying skills and perform much better on your 2nd day in the water.
Note: this is a free service, so if you don’t want to use it the course price stays the same.
DAY 2:
Water lesson (3 hours):
- Flying big kite in the water
- Body dragging (upwind & downwind)
- Theory recap
- Board riding
We get everyone dressed and ready for the water, wetsuits, buoyancy aids and a harness will be worn along with helmets. The students will all be allocated 1 instructor who will spend time with them in the water, initially demonstrating how to body drag after which they themselves will learn to do it. they will practice what they did on the beach the day before, flying figures of 8, left and right and one handed. You will learn to crash the kite and start it from the water and after having spent about 1 hour in the water you will take a break to discuss the next stage and have a short rest.
The next stage is learning to get the board on your feet and to get you up and riding, once again an instructor will be in the water with you to explain and demonstrate all of this, before letting you practice by yourself. At all times there is a safety boat close by keeping an eye on you and giving you advice.
